JOB DESCRIPTION

Chilliwack FC Head Referee/Mentor
(Contracted part-time position – August - May)

Introduction:
Chilliwack FC is a not-for-profit soccer club located in Chilliwack, BC. We currently register over 2,000 players in our fall/winter and spring programs. Originally created for youth, the club has evolved to include adult teams to provide a path for players to “play the world’s game” from age 4–44 or even older. Our goal is to provide a soccer club that all our membership is proud to support.

We currently have a successful mini-ball and small-sided referee program in place with it’s own mentor and classroom course facilitator. Through this program we track the progress of new and young referees up until the time they are ready to advance to the full-field game as either Assistant Referees or Center Referees.  It is imperative to Chilliwack FC that we improve on our referee retention, we can’t play the game without them. In order to improve our retention rate, we must support our younger officials so they do not see quitting what can be one of the most challenging jobs they will ever have as an option. Our amateur officials need support, someone to talk to, someone to share their concerns with, someone who understands what it’s like to be in challenging situations. Someone who can help navigate them through those difficult scenarios, someone who will help make them better and support them as they develop into confident officials.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join Chilliwack FC as our Head Referee & Mentor to help mentor our referees as they move from the small-sided to the full-field game. The position will also include all full-field referee assigning responsibilities using our online assigning program (assignr.com). The Chilliwack FC season typically kicks off with our tournament in late August and goes through until late April. Most of the hours spent will be during weekends on the field with occasional training sessions and meetings during the weekday evenings.
