Chilliwack FC is pleased to introduce a new soccer program for preschool-aged children. The program’s introductory season for children born in 2014 started in April 2018 and the program will continue in September 2018 for children born in 2015.

The Chilliwack FC Kick Start Program is designed to nurture a love for soccer and act as a stepping stone for players entering the U5 program in the Fall 2018 season. Children will participate in stimulating practices and activities that introduce them to a soccer ball and start to develop basic ball skills in a FUN atmosphere. Parent participation is a requirement.

The emphasis will be on movement exercises and games that promote a feel for the ball while teaching basic principles of play within a fun but structured setting in accordance with the standards as laid out by the Canadian Soccer Association and BC Soccer.

The program will be conducted by BCSA certified Chilliwack FC coaching staff and will take place at Exhibition Turf Field. Practices will run for a maximum of 45 minutes.

The Spring 2018 program is scheduled to start Monday, April 16 and runs for 10 weeks until late-June. All session will be held at Exhibition Field in the warm-up area of the turf fields to the south of the grandstand.

Soccer boots and shin pads are recommended for all participants but not mandatory. The session are outdoors and will run rain or shine.

Parents will be participating with the children during these session and they must be wearing flat bottomed shoes, running shoes preferred. No dress shoes or anything with a heal allowed on the turf.

All participating children will receive a Chilliwack FC Kick Start jersey at the first session and will receive a certificate and progress report upon completion of the program.

Chilliwack FC will be offering our Kick Start Program in the Fall of 2018 for children born in 2015. Space for this program will be limited as the plan is to run it concurrently with our Fall min-ball program on Saturday mornings. The registration fee is $60.

Introducing Kick Start Program Lead Coach Steffi Schopf

My name is Steffi Schopf, I am 22yrs old and I’ve been involved with Chilliwack FC as a player since I was 10 years old. I have played at the highest level of youth soccer in the BC Premier League. I am now in the process of developing my coach education with BC Soccer certification courses. I have a great deal of passion for the game and am really excited to now be in the role of Lead Coach for the new Chilliwack FC Kick Start Program.

I am currently graduating at UFV from the Early Childhood Education program. I have completed 400 practicum hours in both daycare facilities and preschools with up to 20 children per class. It is my career goal to continue to work with young children and help nurture their development as young people.

I am looking forward to using my background in early childhood development and blending it with my soccer experience to inspire and hopefully nurture a love for the game of soccer in these young children. I want them to love the game as much as I have learned to over the years. My goal is to make it a fun and exciting learning experience for everyone involved.

I can’t wait to get started!
