Change in Technical Leadership as Flannery Moves on to SUSC

February 8, 2023

A change in technical leadership is coming for Chilliwack FC as Technical Director Troye Flannery moves on to Surrey United, regarded one of the best soccer clubs in Canada.

In his short tenure with Chilliwack FC, Flannery has had a huge impact on the club and its direction, “what Troye has brought to Chilliwack FC with his expertise has been nothing short of amazing” according to Chilliwack FC Chairperson Richard Tagle. “While we’re sorry to see him leave, Troye has set the club up for success and we’re excited to see the next chapter unfold for both Troye and the club”.

“When an opportunity to work with one of the top clubs in Canada comes along, you need to give it a serious look as those opportunities do not come along very often” says Flannery, “I’ve enjoyed my brief time with Chilliwack FC, everyone from the Executive to Players, Coaches, and Parents have been nothing short of outstanding. They’ve given me all the runway I need to move the club forward but this was an opportunity I just couldn’t say no to. I leave Chilliwack FC with mixed feelings but know I leave them in good hands and wish everyone nothing but success in the years to come.”

With Flannery’s departure Chilliwack FC is pleased to announce that Vaggeli Boucas will be stepping into the Technical Director role. Boucas, who currently holds the title Manager of Player Pathway “was an obvious choice” to transition into the Technical Director role according to Tagle. “Vaggeli has had an opportunity to work hand in hand with Troye and we believe he is ready to take the next step and continue the good work he and Troye have already done.”  “I’m excited for the club, I’m excited for Vaggeli,” says Flannery who went on to say “Vaggeli is an exceptional leader and immensely talented coach whom will without question take the club to new heights.” “I’m excited about this new opportunity” says Boucas a former collegiate player with Trinity Western University “I’ve learned a lot from Troye and like him, I love the game and look forward to growing it at Chilliwack FC.”

Flannery’s last day with the club is March 31st, Boucas will officially assume the role of Technical Director on March 1st.
