Kit- Players will be provided a jersey

This program is specific to our U7/U8 and U9/U10 Grassroots players that want more training and more games during the Winter season!

The Ice Breaker Program will be an indoor training program during the week combined with Futsal style games on selected Saturdays. Chilliwack FC has decided to provide this program indoors because it provides variety to our players. We want our young players to be excited to try new things and to be able to develop in different ways. The indoor setting will also help with any weather issues that may arise during the program dates. Players will receive one training session and up to 6 games over the course of two and a half months. Training sessions will be run in stations and players will rotate through the various activities throughout the session. The sessions will be based off the Chilliwack FC curriculum that has been provided by Technical Director Troye Flannery.

Saturdays will be Ice Breaker game days! Game days will consist of Futsal style games.

What is Futsal? Futsal is a stye of the game of soccer in which forces players to really focus on their individual abilities on the ball. Futsal encourages players to be creative on the ball, think in tight spaces and move off the ball.

Futsal Focuses:

    • Individual ball skill
    • Manipulating the ball with different parts of the foot
    • Protecting and shielding the ball from opponents
    • Creative thinking on and off the ball
    • Movement off the ball
    • Quick and creative thinking
    • Confidence on the ball
    • Close control of the ball

Why Futsal? Canada Soccer has integrated Futsal into its youth development plan and as a club, Chilliwack FC wants to ensure that it is following the youth development plan of Canada Soccer. Futsal is also a unique and positive way for players to develop their tight control, use of different parts of the foot, and an understanding on how to manipulate the ball in different ways.

Why Stations?  Chilliwack FC has chosen to follow the station approach as it allows for players to experience various activities during the session, hear a new voice at different stations and importantly, Canada Soccer has implemented the station approach for its youth level development plans and our club wants to ensure we are in line with Canada Soccer’s plans.
